Century dash king and queen fellow from Cavite

BANTAY, Ilocos Sur – Two players from Southern Tagalog have been awarded the gold medal in the 100-meter dash with secondary boys and girls in continuing action at the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Quirino Stadium in this town.

Verzad Verdadero, from Dasmariñas, Cavite, is still the fastest athlete at the Palarong Pambansa when it runs the 100-meter sprint in secondary boys at 10.55 seconds.

The incoming Grade 11 student, Verdadero, also lost his own Palaro record in his recorded time, 0.10 faster than he recorded in time trial in the morning of 10.65.

“I just remembered [it’s the finals]. Just then I tried just trying to get my time trial,” Verdadero said, earning five golds in the previous Palarong Pambansa Antique.

Shortly after Verdadero’s win, Jessel Lumapas, who also came from Dasmariñas, won gold at the girls division after 11.99.

He did not expect that he would take the lead in the fight especially since he is now 100 meters away. The Lumapas defends champion in the 400-meter run.

“I’m not expecting a 100-meter winner because I just focused on 400 meters,” said Lumapas.

Lumapas only pursued the last 30 meters of battalion as he often happens to him.

“I’m always in the beginning, I always complain,” added Grade 11 student.

The story of 2 athletes, many large universities also talked to them to ask for their services but Verdadero was at no time at the moment while Lumapas was still thinking about going to college.

Meanwhile, Central Luzon ruled the elementary boys division with a 100-meter run. Neil Justin Angelio recorded 11.81 to beat the two Calabarzon for gold.

Region 6’s Krisha Aguillon topped the elementary girls with Reah Bacani of Region 2 and LG Shaire Baylon of Region 6 for the gold medal.
